Special Thanks
Special thanks to my wonderful wife, Kathy. You are the inspiration of my life. I am nothing without
your love, support and partnership. When God saw my loneliness, He sent you. We are one.
Thanks to my family and friends. This collection of songs came from the important people in my life.
Your lives have touched me, made me a better man and taught me how to live and love.
Most of all, thank you to Jesus Christ. You saved my life. You gave me hope and purpose. In you I
have found who I am, why I am here and who I live for. I see you in all things and my prayer is that
everyone who hears this music will see you in it.
You are the reason I sing.
Looking back over my life / the things I've done wrong, the things I've done right / If I could go
back and retrace my tracks, start my life anew / what would I do, what would I do / / If I could turn
back time go back and re-arrange my life / I think what I'd do is spend it with You right by Your
side / I wouldn't let You out of my sight / I'd stick to You like glue If I had the chance to / That's
what I'd do / / I spent too much time chasing the wind / But if I could go back and do it again / I'd
say goodbye to this world, adios / and trade it all in for a double dose of You, that’s what I’d do / /
If I could turn back time go back and re-arrange my life / I think what I'd do is spend it with You
right by Your side / I wouldn't let You out of my sight / I'd stick to You like glue If I had the chance
to / That's what I'd do / / Lord you know that / from this moment on I give You the best of me / and
if I could go back I'd give You the rest of me. / / If I could turn back time go back and re-arrange
my life / I think what I'd do is spend it with You right by Your side / I wouldn't let You out of my
sight / I'd stick to You like glue If I had the chance to / That's what I'd do

That’s What I’d Do
This song was written as I thought about my life and how good it has been since I gave my heart to
Christ. Some say they have no regrets. I have one - that I didn’t give my life to Jesus sooner. There
were many hard days and difficult times in my past, living without God. If I could go back, I would
give Him the years of my life that were spent without Him.
The Best Day Of My Life
Jimmy turned eighteen on graduation day / He was ready to move on, go his own way / His Momma
called from her cell phone , said come outside and see / Daddy waited at the door and handed him
the key / He opened up that Chevy door, climbed behind the wheel / Daddy said, son what you
think, tell us how it feels / He said, Dad is this for real / / This is the best day of my life and I can't
believe it's true / I've been waiting for this moment to start my life anew / Momma you don't have to
cry now 'cause this is not the end / but sometimes we must let go of what's been for something new
to begin / / She looked so beautiful coming down the aisle / Jimmy took her by the hand and gave
her a smile / She said Jimmy this is it, are you all in / 'cause once we say those words we can't go
back again / Jimmy looked into her eyes so everyone could see / he said Baby don't you know I'm
where I want to be / from now on it's you and me / / This is the best day of my life and I can't
believe it's true / I've been waiting for this moment to start my life with you / Honey you don't have
to worry 'cause I ain't going back again / Sometimes we must let go of what's been for something
new to begin. / / Fifty-two years later in room four in I.C.U. / with his family gathered round him for
a final prayer or two / When the Spirit came upon him and he sat up in his bed / these were the last
words Jimmy said / / This is the best day of my life and I can't believe it's true / I can hear the
angels singing and heaven's in my view / Whoa you don't have to cry now 'cause this is not the end
/ Sometimes we must let go of what's been for something new to begin

Life is constantly changing. Change can be frightening. Most of us don’t want to let go of the way
things have been. But sometimes we must let go before God can bring something new into our
lives.
Without You
I don't want to face the day. I don't want to go my way without You, without You / Living ain't an
easy thing and life wouldn't be the same without You, without You / 'cause I'm just no good when
I'm on my own / I don't know what I would do without You / / I remember way back when, stuck
inside a world of sin without You, Lord without You / Living life on my own. Lost and all alone
without You, without You / but I'm just no good when I'm on my own / I don't know what I would do
Lord without You / / You lifted me up out of a dark despair / You made everything new and I owe it
all to You / / You promised You would stay with me and now I know I'll never be without You,
without You / As I walk along this road I don't have to walk alone without You, without You /
'Cause I'm just no good when I'm on my own / I don't know what I would do Lord without You / Oh
I don't know what I would do without You / I don't know what I would do without You

The Lord is my strength, my comfort, my helper, my direction, my purpose, my hope, my salvation,
my redeemer. The Lord is everything to me. I don’t want to go one day without Him, and I don’t
have to. Jesus is an ever present help in the time of need. He is the only King worthy to sit upon
the throne of my heart.
Love One Another
Sitting on the front porch. Looking at the sky / I think about the people who are hurting tonight /
It's a big old world out there and Lord You know how much I care / But I'm not wealthy. I'm not a
movie star. And my contribution doesn't go very far / It's a big old world out there and I haven't
got a lot to spare / But it won't matter how much money that we give if we won't change the way
we live / / We gotta love one another. We gotta love one another / If you want to change the world
change the way you treat your brother / We gotta love one another / / You see it on the TV most
everyday - a lot of hungry people living far, far away / Well It's a big old world out there. I want to
do my part I want to do my share / It's good to help someone that you may never meet but what
about that man across the street / / We gotta love one another. We gotta love one another / If you
want to change the world change the way you treat your brother / We gotta love one another / /
Love one another. Love one another / If you want to help yourself find a way to help your brother
/ We gotta love one another / / We gotta love one another. We gotta love one another / If you
want to change the world change the way you treat your brother / We gotta love one another

Jesus said that the world would know who His servants were because they would have love for
one another. There are many people who are talking about God. There are many people who are
trying to get to God; trying to have an encounter with God. If you want an encounter with God you
must go where He is - to the lost and hurting. It’s easy to talk about love, but do we show it? Love
is not something you feel or say, it’s something you do. Sermons and testimonies are good. A fish
on your car or a cross around your neck is good, but if you want to show Jesus to the world,
love someone.
I Couldn’t Go On
When there's nowhere to run and it seems my world has come undone / you look into my eyes
and tell me it will be alright / baby that's when I start to believe again / / I couldn't go on without
you / I couldn't go on without your love / After all we've been through this much is true / I
couldn't go on without you / / When my blue skies turn gray and it seems like I can't find my way
/ You take me by the hand and help me on my feet again / There's nothing I can't do as long as
I'm next to you / / I couldn't go on without you / I couldn't go on without your love / After all
we've been through this much is true / I couldn't go on without you / / When I look into your eyes
I see that you still believe in me / and I'll survive with you by my side / / I couldn't go on without
you / I couldn't go on without your love / After all we've been through this much is true / I
couldn't go on without you. After all we've been through this much is true / I couldn't go on
without you

This song is dedicated to my wife. Kathy and I have been married since 1985. She has become
part of me. She has seen me at my worst and yet she still loved me and stood by me. She is a
wonderful Wife, Mother and Grandmother. Her love and devotion to her family is amazing. She is
the glue that holds us all together. More than that, she is a great woman of faith. She has godly
wisdom, godly strength and godly love. I can’t imagine living life without her.
Just Because
You don’t owe me an explanation for the things you do / You’re the potter and I am the clay. You
do what You want to / And what You say I will obey / / Just because You want me to / I do
whatever You want me to do / swim across the ocean blue / I’d walk a thousand mile without my
shoes / just because You want me to / / I know enough to know that I don’t know enough to
question You / You can see further down the road beyond my view / and once You decide I will
abide / / Just because You want me to / I do whatever You want me to do / Swim across the
ocean blue / I’d walk a thousand miles without my shoes / / I quit making my own plans / I quit
going my own way through the day without You / I don’t need to understand every detail of the
plan / I just need to trust in You / / And what You say I will obey / / Just because You want me to
/ I do whatever You want me to do / swim across the ocean blue / I’d walk a thousand mile
without my shoes / just because You want me to.

This song is about my desire to be blindly obedient to God. There are so many things in life that we
just can’t see. Our view is short at best, and we must learn to trust the leading of the Holy Spirit,
even when we don’t understand where He is leading us and why.
Everything Amazes Her
She just turned a year old and she’s walking everywhere / She’ll get into anything if you’re not
right there / She’s so curious about the world in which we live / and the look in her eyes of wonder
and surprise / is the gift that she gives / / Everything amazes her and she amazes me / like a
flower on the ground / a juice box or a clown / or bouncing on my knee / the things I take for
granted / their beauty she can see / ‘cause everything amazes her and she amazes me / / She
likes fries and apple juice and she loves going outside / splashing in the swimming pool and piggy
back rides / Sometimes when the troubles of this world are all I see / I’ll come through the door /
she’ll run cross the floor / and she’ll reach out for me / / Everything amazes her and she amazes
me / Like a flower on the ground / a juice box or a clown / or bouncing on my knee / The things I
take for granted / their beauty she can see / Everything amazes her and she amazes me

This song is about my granddaughter Cheyanne. She is such an amazing person. When she was
just beginning to walk, she and I would take walks in the neighborhood. She would stop and look
at everything with such wonder and amazement. Things that I overlooked were the things she
found beautiful. Her love of life and ability to appreciate the little things have given me joy and
taught me to appreciate the wonderful things God has placed around me daily.
Doesn’t Have To Be Goodbye
Do you remember saying forever / Do you remember for better or worse / These are more than
words written in a story line / we’ve all heard a hundred times / So before you gather all of your
things / Before you walk out that door / look deep down inside and baby if you see / a chance for
you and me / maybe we should give it one more try / you know this doesn’t have to be goodbye /
/ I know we’ve had some hard times / and I know we’ve made mistakes / but with God on our
side I know that we can survive / Maybe we should give it one more try / You know this doesn’t
have to be goodbye / / As long as we stay together / we can weather the storm / So let’s stand
in faith / by the holy promise we made on that day / / I know we’ve had some hard times / and I
know we’ve made mistakes / but with God on our side I know that we can survive / Maybe we
should give it one more try / You know this doesn’t have to be goodbye.

This song was inspired by the well known divorce rates in the U.S. According to the statistics, if
you get married, you will likely end up divorced. What’s more astonishing is that  Christians as a
whole aren’t doing better. I believe that marriage is worth fighting for, and we must be willing to
work hard to make our marriages last. Sometimes, the easy thing to do is give up; throw in the
towel, but your family is worth the effort. Maybe, you’ve been considering divorce.  If you have, I
encourage you to pray with your spouse about it, ask God to help you, get help if you need it and
give your marriage another try.
More To Come
If you take a long hard look at me / you’re probably gonna’ see some things you don’t want to
see / But try and understand I’m a work in progress my friend / I’m being fashioned by the
Master’s hand / / There’s more, much more to come / When you look at me remember God’s not
done / You may see me as I am / but you don’t know where I began / You don’t know what I will
become / ‘cause God’s not done / / If you think you got me figured out / you know exactly who I
am and what I’m all about / Stick around and you will see / changes being made in me / This is
who I am but this ain’t all I’m gonna’ be / / ‘Cause there’s more, much more to come / When you
look at me remember God’s not done / You may see me as I am / but you don’t know where I
began / You don’t know what I will become / ‘cause God’s not done / / ‘Cause there’s more, much
more to come / When you look at me remember God’s not done / You may see me as I am / but
you don’t know where I began / you don’t know what I will become / ‘cause God’s not done.

Who are you today? I’ll bet you are not the same person you were ten years ago. God is
continually working on us, shaping us into the image of Christ. Just because you’re not everything
you want to be now doesn’t mean you won’t be someday. Be happy with who you are. Take joy in
knowing that God loves you and He is working to make you a better person. So cut yourself some
slack when you make a mistake, even if others won’t. God’s not done with you.
With You
They’re out there alone out on their own without You / It’s not like You haven’t made Yourself
known, they know about You / And how many times have You held out Your hand / but they just
turn and walk away, far away / / But if they could see how great life would be /with You walking
beside them / how You would guide them through those difficult days / how the power of Sunday
would be there on Monday too / Oh, if they could see how great life would be with You / / They’re
out there again in need of a friend to help them through / Everyday they go their own way, living
without You / And how many times have you reached out for them / but they just turn and walk
away, far away / / But if they could see how great life would be / with You walking beside them /
how You would guide them through those difficult days / how the power of Sunday would be there
on Monday too / Oh, if they could see how great life would be with You / / Now is the time today’s
the day / for you to turn and walk His way / to go the Father’s way / / Oh, if you could see how
great life would be / when He’s walking beside you how He would guide you through those difficult
days / how the power of Sunday would be there on Monday too / Oh if you could see how great life
would be / if Jesus was with you.

As a Pastor, I often feel frustrated by people who may or may not go to church, and if they do, they
are often only victorious on Sunday. Their lives, although labeled Christian, aren’t better than any
other. They seem to go their own way, without Jesus, on a daily basis. If they only knew how much
He loves them; how much He wants to guide them through this  life.
Goin’ Down
That old devil’s been fighting me / trying to steal my victory / ooh I’m goin’ down / he’s knocking
on my back door / and I can’t take much more / ooh feels like I’m goin’ down / / Well I’m goin’
down now on my knees / to fight the battle spiritually / demons flee when I go down / Well I’m
goin’ down now what can I say / there’s power on my knees when I pray / I can face the day
when I go down / / I see the battle comin’ my way / and I ain’t ashamed to say / Ooh I’m goin’
down / laugh at me if you please / but I’m more of a man when I’m on my knees / so, I’m goin
down / / I’m goin’ down now on my knees / to fight the battle spiritually / oh demons flee when I
go down / Well I’m goin’ down now what can I say / there’s power on my knees when I pray / I
can face the day when I go down / / Three days in a hole in the ground / not a peep not a sound
/ Oh, the Son of God had gone down / They thought this might be the end / He ain’t comin’ back
again / Oh, but you can’t keep a good man down / / He won’t stay down there ain’t no way /
He’ll rise again on the third day / no He won’t stay, He won’t stay down / Well He went down to
pave the way / so I could rise again someday / and I don’t have to stay / I don’t have to stay
down. Words and Music by Mylon Avery 2009 BMI
All of us have been knocked down in our life. Down may not be a fun position to be in, but it does
have some advantages. There are some things you can only do from the down position. Things
like pray with a true humility, let go of your own ideas and stop relying on your own strength.
Christ was placed down into the tomb and it was from that position that He changed the world. If
He had never gone down you and I would never have been lifted up
Mercy Rains
There is hope for a thirsty soul / a river of love that will flow / There is life coming down / the
power of God all around / / Mercy rains, rains down / lost in Your love as it falls to the ground / I
am washed in that flood / cleansed by the power of the blood / Mercy rains / / There is love,
amazing grace / waiting for hearts to embrace / Oh, the peace falling from the sky / don’t let this
moment pass by / / Mercy rains, rains down / lost in Your love as it falls to the ground / I am
washed in that flood / cleansed by the power of the blood / I’ve been cleansed by the power of
the blood / / Here in this place  / forgiveness is found / His mercy is falling all around / / Mercy
rains, rains down / lost in Your love as it falls to the ground / I am washed in that flood / cleansed
by the power of the blood / I’ve been cleansed by the power of the blood / I’ve been cleansed by
the power of the blood / Your Mercy rains

One day during church I was sitting at the piano worshiping as people prayed. Suddenly, I had a
vision of the Holy Spirit falling on everyone there. There was no particular place that was sacred
because everyplace was sacred, and God was raining down His Spirit all over. I could see it fall
like rain. I could even see it collect in puddles on the ground. Needless to say, we had an
awesome time that day. That day is the inspiration for this song.
